Vava'u Tonga has a reputation as the premium Sport fishing and Big Game fishing destination in the South Pacific. The waters of Vava'u Tonga are over 1000 meters deep less than a mile of shore.
After a 30 to 40 minute cruise from Vava'u Harbour we will be in 1000 metres of deep blue water.

You can leave early and travel to a seamount and work the schools of Yellowfin and Skipjack. After which you can troll home with the likelihood of picking up Billfish and Mahimahi or fish the 3 new FAD's just off shore for Billfish and Mahimahi
Snorkeling at the stunning beaches of Nuku and Port Maurelle or explore Japanese Gardens one of the most beautiful reefs in Vavau Snorkel through Mariners cave and swallows cave.
Fish Aggregating Device (FAD)
In Vava'u we now have three (3) new FAD's which are situated approximately
six miles offshore in 1000/1200 metres of water. The distance between varies
depending on current flow and wind. The distance between the southernmost
FAD and the northern FAD is approximately 18/20 miles.
These FAD's hold a variety of species, including Mahi Mahi, Yellow fin,
Skipjack Tuna, Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Spanish Mackerel, etc. On an average
days fishing it is possible to visit all three FAD's.
The latest FAD deployment has been funded by the Vava'u Sports fishing club
with funds raised by TIGFA and Tournaments held over the past 10/15 years. |
